Albany Fine Art Limited (“Albany”) are independent fine art dealers who operate in the best interests of their clients at all times. As a matter of policy we have no commercial association with any other individual or organisation: art consultants, framers, restorers and shipping companies have been selected solely on the basis of our opinion as to their competence, experience and value.
ATTRIBUTION OF WORK
Where a work is identified with the name(s) or recognised designation(s) of an artist, in our opinion it is or is probably a work by the named artist, e.g. William Callow. Nevertheless, no unqualified statement as to authorship is made or intended nor does it not imply a full warranty.
In other instances, the following terms are used:
“Attributed to…”
In our opinion probably a work by the named artist in whole or in part.
“Circle of…”
In our opinion a work of the period of the named artist and showing his/her stylistic influence.
"Follower of…” or ”Style of…”
In our opinion a work executed in the style of the named artist.
“Manner of…”
In our opinion a work in the style of the named artist but of a later date.
“School of…” accompanied by a place name and/or country and/or date
In our opinion a work executed at the location and in the period specified, e.g. 19thC English School.
“After…”
In our opinion a copy of any date after a work by the named artist.
“Signed” and/or “Dated” and/or “Inscribed”
In our opinion the signature and/or date and/or inscription is by the named artist.
“Bears signature” and/or “Bears date” and/or “Bears Inscription”
In our opinion the signature and/or date and/or inscription is by a hand other than that of the named artist.
All references to signatures and/or dates and/or inscriptions refer to the present state of the work, i.e. as at the time of sale by Albany.
DISCLAIMER
All statements offered by Albany as to authorship, attribution, origin, date, age and condition of a work are statements of opinion and should not be taken as statements of fact. Albany accept no liability arising from any inaccuracy or omission and advise all clients to satisfy themselves as to accuracy before relying on it.
All works are subject to availability.
DIMENSIONS
Paintings & Works on Paper: Height x Width in centimetres (‘cm’) followed by approximate dimensions rounded up or down to the nearest ¼ inch (‘in’) in brackets.
Sculpture: Height x Width x Depth in centimetres (‘cm’) followed by approximate dimensions rounded up or down to the nearest ¼ inch (‘in’) in brackets.
