After Rubens’ ‘Presentation of Marie de Medici’s Portrait to Henri IV’
We identified this fine watercolour as a copy of a Sir Peter Paul Rubens' (Flemish, 1577-1640) painting from the Marie de Medici Cycle, a monumental series of 24 paintings commissioned by and chronicling the life of Queen Marie de Medici, widow of King Henri IV of France, for the Luxembourg Palace in Paris Cycle (1622-1625, now in the Musée du Louvre, Paris). Rubens' Medici commission was an inspiration to other artists, particularly Jean-Antoine Watteau (French, 1684-1721) and Francois Boucher (French, 1703-1770) who produced copies from the Medici Cycle.

Fine Bronze after Antoine Coysevox
An unattributed bronze, we identified it as a work after the celebrated French Baroque sculptor, Antoine Coysevox (French, 1640-1720) who was responsible for creating much of the statuary for Kings Louis XIV and Louis XV of France at the Chateau de Versailles, Paris, as well as many sculptures of the most celebrated men of his time.
